THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE ALBANY STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION INC. IS A GROUP OF DEMOCRATICALLY-ELECTED STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES WHO ACT AS CONTACTS FOR STUDENTS STUDYING AT MASSEY UNIVERSITY ALBANY.
The positions have developed over the lifetime of the Association to meet students' needs and wants, to advocate for student welfare and quality education throughout the campus community and through various other external providers including Government.
These people are here to collect information from the membership and focus on issues of preeminence to the student body. Their term is one calendar year. A small honorarium is paid.
Your student representatives seek to redress inequities that arise mainly inside rather than outside the university environment and normally from particular concerns raised by students or student groups. Hence, in most instances, there exists as part of the Association, a member whose particular responsibility is the representation of individual vested interest groups. This involves actively listening to the wants and needs of the students, seeking a mandate on a particular course of action and then representing it to the appropriate university committee or agency.
