AMESS Bear Pong Post-Grant Report

AMESS - Engineering Society (2021/R1)

At the beginning of Semester 2 AMESS held a series of Re-O-Week events, one of which included Bear Pong. Bear Pong was sponsored through KiwiPong and held by AMESS at the Ferguson Bar on Campus. This event also had further sponsorship from companies such as Burger Fuel and Sals for spot prizes given out throughout the night.

We aimed to attract over 100 students for this event, unfortunately due to late timings we only attracted little over 40 attendees. This was not as many as we had anticipated, however it was still a fun event that brought heaps of interaction and engagement from those who attended and those who were unable to.

We had four final prizes for the competitors;

• 1st - A KiwiPong Table and 6 x Sal's Pizza Vouchers
• 2nd - 2 x V Trays and 6 x Sal's Pizza Vouchers
• 3rd -  $50 Fergs Tab and 6 x Sal's Pizza Vouchers
• 4th -  2 x KiwiPong Cup Packs and 10 x Sal's Pizza Vouchers

We also gave out a combined total of 100 vouchers for both Sal's and Burger Fuel, both companies were extremely happy with being able to sponsor this event and look forward to carrying this support further into the future.

This event unfortunately did not have the turnout we expected of it. Currently we have found this to be due to the currently dying student culture around campus, largely impacted by COVID-19. This however is not a deterrent for our event, we are planning on holding this event again next year in 1st Semester dates to be confirmed.
