MUA Underwater Club (2019/R5)

First week of semester two we had the second Clubs Day of the year where it gave MUAUC a chance to talk to students about the Marine environment and seeing if they were interested in our club. We had an awesome second club's day event with lots of people coming past and having a look at what our club was about. We were able to add a decent number of new members to our ranks so that we can help them experience and learn about the marine environment. Moreover, having some current members coming and chatting to us about the events that are coming up this semester e.g. Talk from Experiencing Marine Reserve's Lorna Doogan on the 21/08/2019 from 12-2 at SNW300, all are welcome :)

At club's day we also had a twist on the "guess the number" game running where students had to guess how many bottles were inside the boat in order to win a Larvacore shirt and a Mares snorkel kit, courtesy of Auckland Scuba. We had 112 plastic bottles in the boat that MUAUC exec's, the ASA and Recreation centre staff, and our lovely CAC had collected. Congratulations to our two winners of the competition, Ben and Iris, both whom guessed the exact number of bottles in the boat. Well done. Furthermore, well done for those who did try to guess the number of bottles there were many guesses that were very close but with those really small bottles and the large milk bottles it was not the easiest number to guess.

We would like to thank our supporter Auckland Scuba for the donation of the prizes.

We would also like to thank the ASA and grant committee for providing us the funds from the last grant round (R5/2019) in order to rent the boat from first scene. Part of the club's day event and the amount of fun that we had wouldn't have happened without that funding and support.
