BSG Go Innovate Finals

The Business Student Group (BSG) runs the GO, Innovate competition every year. GO Innovate is a competition which aims to find the best entrepreneurial students with innovative ideas. These innovative ideas or products fill a genuine gap or opportunity and allows students to unleash the entrepreneur from within. Contestants submitted their innovative ideas in a report and then defended their ideas in an in-depth presentation. From this three finalists idea were chosen; Juergen Kolb, Ryan Stillwill and the team of Sam Kerse and Aden Cooper.

The finals night which we run to showcase the top three finalist is fully catered with finger food and a cash bar. We were able to provide catering through an ASA grant, which we are thankful for. The finals night on Tuesday 15th July allowed these finalists to give a 10 minute presentation about their innovative idea.

Three judges; Steve Corbett, Christoph Schumacher and Victoria Mahan decided that Juergen Kolb with his idea GeneSelect had the most innovative idea and Juergen received a $5,000 Massey bursary and the Ecentre Sprint Package. Juergen also won the People’s Choice Award and received an HP Notebook.

As a thank you to our judges on the night, we commissioned three laser cut trophies from Byron Brooks, from the engineering school. We at the BSG thank the generous support of our three judges, Byron, and the ASA.
