ASA Executive Update - Engagement Officer - Michaela Futter

Kia ora e te whānau,

The ASA is very excited to announce the beginning of our Strawberry Season!

This is a FREE period product trial for all Massey internal Albany students. We are offering pads, tampons and starter kits (inc one of each pad, applicator tampon and panty liner). These are available from 9am-4pm from the ASA reception. In addition to this, we are offering FREE sustainable period options, namely, Love Luna underwear and Wā menstrual cups. You can order one via our website. This trial will continue until the end of 2022, (whilst stock is available).

Last year, our executive identified that period equity was a significant issue for our tauira. Following this, a proposal was put forward to Massey University to provide students across all campuses and modes of studies with period products. This is an ongoing area of work that encompasses period equity, period education, gender equality and diversity, and sustainability. Due to the nature of this work, we are hoping to launch a Massey wide trial in Semester 1 2023. This will require consultation with students, which will be developed over the next few months so that our unique student needs will be met. More information regarding this trial will be released when funding is secured. If you have any comments/questions/queries about this, please email [email protected]

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, it is also a very busy time with many assignments and due dates. I highly recommend taking some time away from your studies to connect with yourself, your peers and the world outside of study. Check out the Massey App for a list of events on this week, alternatively check out our events page for a list of events ASA will be offering during W9. I hope to see you around!
