Massey University Theatre Society - Bitsas Performance

From the 19th to the 21st of March, the Massey University Theatre Society (MUTS) held performances of the two winning plays from last year's Bitsas competition. The ASA staff went along on opening night to check it out...

"Between the Cracks", written by Kate Davis, was a gritty tale about the friendship between a young Auckland sex-worker and a woman carrying out her community service. "Lines of Literature", written by Georgina Forrester, was a more introspective look at a book club where the women instead drink heavily and regret their own life choices, wishing they were the characters in the books.

Both plays were really well written and acted and it was obvious a lot of time was spent on sound/lighting/wardrobe too. The settings of the two plays were very different, but they worked well as a double-bill and actually shared a lot in terms of themes - regret, dreams, reality vs image etc

We would highly recommend attending future events organised by MUTS and you can read their report of the evening here.
