MUFF - Brass Monkey Tournament

Rotorua Brass Monkey 2014 was a two day Ultimate Frisbee tournament comprising of a 1 day indoor tournament and on the second day an outdoor Hat tournament. The indoor tournament was a great social event, where the Massey Albany team really out performed themselves, although we were left without a victory. There were many comments throughout the day about how we were coming together as a team and beginning to show some real talent. With particular standout Andrew Drain being awarded player of the tournament.

The evening involved a social gathering of all players from the day and an excellent opportunity to network with experienced players, many of whom have competed on the international stage. It also contained the Hat draw for the following days tournament. A Hat tournament involves players names being drawn from a hat to form teams.

With the Massey Albany team spread over the 6 outdoor teams, we were able to learn new skills from far more experienced players, network with many people in the ultimate Frisbee world, and with one of our newest players Max Waller improving an immense amount, and his hat team taking out the tournament.

The entire trip was very successful with a huge amount of learning, Frisbee, networking, and socializing taking place.
