MAMC - Movie Club Outdoor Movie

The Movie Club kicked off this semester with its second outdoor movie. After the success of Pitch Perfect last year, we thought we’d try to make this a tradition.

The viewing of Lion King during O-Week was a roaring success. Adding beanbags, popcorn, candyfloss and Hopt soda to the mix, it was a fun night for everyone!

As usual, we aim to watch more movies at Events throughout the year. With such a huge number of members, hopefully we can do more events, and meet more people in the process. Aside from ordinary movie events, we’re hoping to organise a similar event for Winter O-Week – with beanbags (again!), hot chocolate, onesies, and a winter-themed movie.

We're currently taking bookings for Avengers on 30th April - get your ticket from ASA Reception.

Garden Club to hold cooking workshop

The Garden Club will soon be hosting a Traditional Umu Cooking Workshop.

According to 2015 Garden Club president Richard Donovan, the workshop would be run with Senior Advisor Pasifika, Ben Taufau, and would use the taro grown in the garden.

“I just felt that it would kind of be a good opportunity for others to learn how to do it, especially since a lot of the members of the Community Garden are actually international students and I’m sure they’d definitely be interested in learning about the Island culture and traditional cooking, especially because it’s very similar to hangi and it’s a good way to bridge the cultures.”
